Hi there! My name is Ashton Donahue, and I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who serves the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program at Capitol View Elementary. I have been at Capitol View since the summer of 2011. I received my Bachelor's degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA and my Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Iowa. I use a combination of sign language and spoken English, depending on the student and their specific needs. I continue to build my own signing vocabulary and American Sign Language (ASL) skills, each and every day. A large part of my job is to provide as much visual support for the teachers and students as I can. My students work on a variety of skills during their speech sessions; sound production, articulation with visual phonics support, answering WH questions, story retell, proper grammar/syntax when writing and/or speaking, and social language. I love the challenges and rewards that my job provides, as well as being able to see my students grow as they move through preschool and elementary! Feel free to contact me with any questions. My email is [email protected]. Thanks for visiting the SLP Corner!
